About Why
People have told me things-
A lot of things-
About life and love
And happiness.
But all I could see-
The only things I could see-
Were the hurt and anger
And woe,
Creating their home within me.
So I wrote about it-
Stanza after stanza,
Line after line-
Until it was done.
And I read it.
Then I read yours.
And I hated mine-
Slightly less than myself-
Which lasted too long a time.
Then I remembered:
It’s not about how or what you write,
But why.
So I flipped to a clean page
And started again.
