Looking Back
Sometimes life just moves so fast
It feels impossible to look back at my past
It feels so distant and I can barely remember
A time when I didn’t want to surrender
To the flood of tears pushing to escape my eyes
And just sit and cry let out a few sighs
Wishing it could all just slow down for a while
I’m so tired of growing up and letting years pile
I miss the days when I was so excited for school
And when I thought I was so brave to jump in the pool
But those days have faded and gone away
And I wish time would stop taking the memories that led to this day
All I want is to go back just to watch how it all passed
And see why those childhood days could not last
Life moves so fast and when I look back I see my past
But when I look forward all I see is a jumble of possibilities,
Showing me all I have gained, all of my abilities.
