It Just Wasn’t Meant to Be
The clicking of my pink shoes down the hallway
makes heads turn in my direction.
Out of everyone staring, I only see you.
I glance over my shoulder
and let out a sigh.
It just wasn’t meant to be.
Years have past
And my feelings are still just as strong.
What we could have had
is disappearing like a good dream.
It just wasn’t meant to be.
Lying against my soaked pillows,
letting the tears drip down
won’t help us become one.
Becoming a jealous wreck
won’t make you love me.
It just wasn’t meant to be.
My heart pounds at the sight of you.
I blush at the mumble of your name
but you seem not to notice
or to care.
It just wasn’t meant to be.
I want to ask you so many questions
but my cowardly ways
and your friends
prohibit me from expressing everything to you.
It just wasn’t meant to be.
A single glance of you keeps me addicted.
A single sound of your voice keeps me smiling.
Every time I walk past you
I try to hide the pain of reality
that it just wasn’t meant to be.
