Stormhawks
In my journeys I’ve discovered
That friends do not need each other
Because little birdies of a feather
Will fly and cry and die together
We’ll spend our time with the ones we love
Knowing that they have our trust
We’ll build them up and esteem them highly
Then shoot them down with a bolt of lightning.
We’ll chirp melodies in their ears
Telling them what they want to hear
And when they doze off to sleep
We sneak in and cut their wings
When they find that they can’t fly
We butter them with countless lies
About their potential-as we do carry
The audacity to tell them their worthy
We go on our separate ways
Looking for new friends to make
That will show us empathy
And take us under their wings
We’ve become birdies of a feather
Well laugh and sing and be together
I’ll put my heart into this love
He knows that he has my trust
He’ll build me up and esteem me highly
And shoot me down with a bolt of lightning.
