"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well."
-Vincent Van Gogh

When I was younger I wished to become
A fish, of living in the salt waters
Of the vast ocean. Days filled with sweet smiles,
Amusement, swimming, laughter. No falter
Of hope, nothing to miss, every moment
An adventure. The waves of endless blue
Would carelessly splash away torments
Of memories. Through green algae, the view
Is filled with the sand where brave creatures crawl
In search of food, some resting in small caves
where tiny bubbles drift up while I fall
asleep to the sound of the crushing waves

But now, happily would I stay on land
If I could spend my life holding your hand

This poem is a comparison of childhood innocence to the reality of being truly in love. You may not have endless happiness, and it won't be easy. You'll cry and you'll have long lonely nights, but in the end it is worth it because you are in love.
