Wishing
Sometimes I wish I knew how and why,
With you standing here close at my side,
I hope to feel your touch on my pale hand,
The two of us listening to our favorite bands.
Wrapped in conversation, wrapped around you,
I can almost see you like me too.
As my smile begins to dance on my face,
I see her there, model face, body shaped like an elegant vase,
I fade from you mind,
I watch you to kiss, the perfect couple kind,
I'm lost to you, as both of you fill the room with hugs.
So sadly I turn, returning to cleaning mugs,
Thinking of all the answers why,
It's not me there by your side.
