Death of Poetry

Poetry is a dying art,
Written from the joy or pain of someone’s heart.
Death of a mind may come with the death of a poem,
The once-beautiful art is now gone and searching for a new home.
But what will take its unoccupied place?
Perhaps this will be decided by an outstanding race!
Written on dirty bathroom stalls,
On the floor all crumbled up in little paper balls.
Poetry has lost the dear respect that it once had,
Yet poetry stays amazingly calm and doesn’t get uncontrollably mad.
Although poetry is struggling to survive,
Maybe someday it shall be revived.

I like the line of poetry staying calm a lot

I love it :) not really a limerick, but clever none the less.  To shed a little insight of mine, I would say that poetry has all but died.  This site is proof of that, music is another, poems are often used.  Instead of poems dying, I would say they have evolved.

A limerick is a witty, sometimes nonsensical form of poetry, meant to make people laugh rather than think.  The rhyme scheme is AABBA, sets of 5 lines, usually just 5.  So this particular piece is not really a limerick.

This is so true! Limerick or not, a good poem.

I thought that it was not a limerick it seemed to express its own thought about poetry. I have to agree with this poem.

Great work! I loved it and agree completely. Would you mind explaining exatly what a limmerick is? Like how many lines and which ones rhyme?
