I Run.
I run and don’t look back until I’m surrounded.
The sun bursts through the opening in the canopy,
Shining bright like a spotlight.
The shadow that has hung over me my whole life is gone.
I scream.
The vibrations echo off of the trees,
penetrating my ears.
All the thoughts trapped in my mind release in all different directions.
I’m alone,
Yet I’ve never felt more accepted.
The trees listen.
The flowers understand.
I’m in a different world,
And I’m happy.
