we had promised
We had promised
a promise that should never be made
and became giants
And our promises, with neglect, decayed
We saw each other
in our wicked lucid dreams
compromised with what was left
,a dying life,
ashes of our legacy
and before we knew it they'd been scattered
by the breath of dark lungs, vocal cords
shattered
I was a giant
but I'd never felt so human
You were brittle
when we touched
I made cracks in your skin
You covered your wounds
and smothered your cries
but the truth unfurled
from the salt in your eyes
And it burned through my ego like acid
If you were here all I would ask is
forgiveness
for breaking that promise
never to hurt you
Friend.
