The Owl
Hoot, hoot, hoot, fills the midnight skies.
I follow the noise because I know an owl is near.
The noise is getting closer….and closer….and closer.
The owl is calling to someone.
I look up the hollow tree and see two young near her.
Mama is protecting her young, calling for them.
I stare into her large, round eyes,
and all I see is a mother who loves her kids,
wants the best for her kids,
and of course will do anything to protect them.
