Looking Back
I look back
To what could have been.
All the memories from the past
Left untouched, left unseen.
I reminisce,
My mind travelling to the old days
When we were in love
Basking in nothing but the warmth of the sun’s rays.
I look back
To all the things that went wrong.
The sudden missed calls,
The dullen rhythm of our love song.
What used to be desire
Turned into tiredness,
Leaving nothing but a trail
Of hatred and unforgiveness.
I no longer look back
Feelings of yearning and anger gone,
For I have understood
A heart cannot mend
Without letting go and moving on.
