Sophie
It was a bright, clear day with clouds scattered in the sky.
I was quietly eating my grilled cheese and drinking my chilled root beer.
My grandma leaned in with a huge grin and told me it would be a birthday to remember.
I then entertained myself with childish activities.
I played with chalk and drew colorful shapes all over the ground.
The doorbell went ding, and I ran to open the door to see my mom.
She walked in holding a large box.
I eyed the container and expected it to be a bike due to the box’s large size
I slowly opened the box with caution and saw a pair of dark, golden eyes.
I backed away quickly after opening the box and saw my forever companion.
There she was, my dog Sophie was looking up at me with the most loving eyes.
I will never forget that particular moment in which I met my best friend.
