Nature's Trap
Your long green stem
reaches for the sky,
and your beautiful
but deadly
green and red blossom waits open,
blood red fangs barred.
The innocent little fly doesn’t even notice
all your other plant brothers and sisters
as the fly buzzer closer to your sweet-smelling aroma.
As the little insect lands in your mouth,
hypnotized from the smell,
it doesn’t even see
as the walls slowly close in around the oblivious fly.
Nature’s perfect trap
