Growing Pains
It starts as a pressure when you are young.
Slowly growing throughout.
Taking over your body, your mind.
It gets more painful too.
A clawing force
An unyielding force
A force all too familiar, we begin to ignore it.
But when our emotions get the best of us.
When others get the best of us.
When our failures get the best of us.
When our lives get the best of us.
We feel the pain.
The sorrow.
The jealousy.
The heartbreak.
The loneliness.
We feel too much.
It’s always too happy.
Too sad.
Too angry.
Too human.
It’s part of us, so we should accept it
But we don’t.
Instead, we push our pain onto others.
Our fear, anger, jealousy take over.
One person can only handle so much pressure before they break.
Not physically, but mentally.
We are much too fragile to be carrying so many ill feelings with us,
A flaw in our creation.
Holding too much is what weighs us down,
It breaks us apart.
Breaks us down.
Breaks each other.
There is too much pressure on us.
There is too much pressure on everyone else too.
We all have to face these growing pains head on.
We learn to manage with the weight
And with it comes new knowledge.
Knowledge to shape our futures, our dreams, our desires.
But without these pains we wouldn’t be human.
We wouldn’t be us.
