Glimpses
Do you ever just catch a glimpse of a passing feeling,
something that tells you "this is what it feels like to be young and free - regrets, maybe, mistakes, many - but still, young and free."
I get those sometimes,
when I'm speeding down the highway
with the windows down,
when I'm laughing so hard my stomach hurts,
when the world is just spinning and I realize I'm alive
and nothing could ever stop me.
Yeah, I get those feelings sometimes.
I wish they were more than glimpses,
I wish they would last longer.
But I guess that's what makes glimpses linger -
the ironic uncertainty of them.
You have to take them as they are, or as they appear.
But oh, are they worth it.
