with me
Wade with me,
white water and lace.
Shed clothes, and orange light
Illuminates; the face
of the clock, the sands
of time weighed down to streaks of purple,
faded grace.
Your love is an ocean I can’t replace.
Inhale this air, and do not waste
This time of day, this memory
Of how I chased (you) down the dock
You, the wind, my only love
Into the sea, your favorite place.
So take me in your cold embrace
And wash my heart of pain, and take
The shadows from my eyes, and run me,
tranquil,
at the water’s pace.
And blind me in the setting sun;
Thresholds of light, the flesh they break,
Burn my eyes, behold my shards;
The bloody love this world creates.
