Years Swallowed Up
It could've been water filling his glass
everyone knew it wasn't.
His breath fragrant
with the bitter poison being consumed.
A hunger twisting his insides,
manipulating him with every sip
Everyday I see him consume toxin,
but he does not care.
The happy feeling he gets,
makes him think why stop?
The joy he gets from one swallow,
takes over his thoughts of his
loved ones now being forever gone.
Water in his glass
He's sober now.
I remember the day
His cheeks still red,
and those years forever gone
trapped inside the empty bottles.
