Loving You
Loving you has been one of the most painful things I have ever done
Loving you has brought me more heartache than happiness yet I can’t stop
No matter how hard I try I can’t stop loving you.
My heart is in a cage on your shelf and you’re the only one with the key
My heart has been on this shelf for so long it feels like home ?Except this home is filled with a longing, a longing to be loved in the same way I love you.
The shelf is starting to collect dust, you haven’t visited in a while
But its okay, my heart is patient, especially for you
As more time passes my love for you remains.
Days, months, years go past but somehow you still hold the key to my heart
I have tried to forget about you, move on, but I can’t
Right when I get close with someone else I realize that my heart can’t belong to them because it already belongs to you.
This aching in my chest has become so familiar that without it I don’t know who I would be
This aching to be loved by you, the aching to have you look at me and know that I am your world
I have tried masking this pain with alcohol but that just brings me back closer to you, everything brings me closer to you
So here I am
Slowly breaking down over a love that I know will never come
But my mom always taught me to have hope
So here I am
Hoping that one day you will love me just as much as I love you
