Scarlet
The scarlet babe, nursed in pain
Cries of joy, it tries to feign
Even as the moon appears
And pays homage to all its fears
Violently, the floorboards shake
A requiem the sound doth make
Down below, the harpy sings
Words of hate, lovely things
The lion roars, forever proud
But logic is not half as loud
Through verbal misstep, awkward blunder
The union is brutally torn asunder
Its angels are demons, sinister yet fair
Into their eyes it must always stare
The babe no longer seeks salvation
For it has accepted its damnation
