Don't kill the Butterflies
Mama says butterflies aren't real,
I say she's wrong.
Butterflies aren't real,
nothing is that beautiful;
nothing like that can happen.
I say she's wrong.
So tell me honey,
if butterflies are real,
where do they keep their wings,
that are too beautiful,
to be true?
They aren't real my honey,
and that is the truth.
I say she's wrong.
Go ahead!
Draw your little butterflies,
but I'll tell you now,
they aren't real.
They'll kill those little butterflies.
I say she's wrong.
They'll KILL those little butterflies!
NO!
Don't kill the butterflies.

Thanks again to Ms. Ward for assigning this. So basically, we had to write something that goes along to a picture we saw. We based it off of a little girl drawing butterflies with chalk. So, I took it more a deeply, and saw the butterflies, not being butterflies, but as a metaphor. You see, butterflies are like creativity. They start off as something ugly, like how creativity starts off as a simple idea, and over time it turns into something more beautiful. It may be confusing at first, but you'll get it! Enjoy the piece and please vote! Thank you so much!
