Only a Dream
My life is a dream.
A dream where flowers grow gold
then rise up and fly away, black as night.
In the night, enemies roam
the light of day is my only safe time
It may be just a dream, but I have no power.
My life is a dream where books come alive
and songs come to visit
and words predict the future.
It may be a dream, but it is where I dwell.
My life is a dream where the small ones pay no attention
and the sunshine comes and goes faster
than the white waves, threatening to wash me away
and toss me and turn me 'till
I reach the dark world.
It may be a dream, but it is one where
feelings beat me down until I die.
My life is a dream where adventures and
troubles rain down on me from the midnight sky
I lose the game every day
but have no way to scream.
When I try to scream, the world crumbles down
leaving me to battle
the only bad left.
I've escaped on a magic train
from all those who watch me
I land in a world that is beautifully terrifying.
I live in a world where my anger has
pushed me, into the land of the demons.
I have made a mistake but I still want to stay
in this nightmare that has
become of a dream.
It may be my life, but it's coming undone
ripping at the seams, yet the beginning
is near, as I watch the brilliant gold flowers
char and blow away
This is my life, where I've reached the barrier that separates.
This is my life, and it leaves me to wonder-
What if it were
only a dream?
