For The Girl
For the girl
with a burlap sack slung over her head
and hands tied with rope
thats too tight
and makes her wrists burn
even more than
when she slashed them
too many times
even more than
when her father hit them
with his belt
too hard
but not as much
as the burning in her throat
when she cried herself to sleep every night
or the blisters on her feet
from running away
and running back again
because at least "home"
has a roof
but all of that
is no where near as bad
as the pain
of wanting to die
too young.
