True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.

The day you brought me home,
I was so afraid that you would make me leave again.
It made me happy when the days kept passing,
And I still had a family.

You taught me that the bed and the couch were mine
Just as much as they were yours.
I was confused.
I had never laid on something so soft.

You scolded me for chewing up your slippers,
But they had such a familiar scent
And I was missing you that day.
Besides, you never get mad when I rip apart my toys.

I get scared when I smell your tears.
I can tell that you’re sad, but I can never understand why.
I still do my best to cheer you up, though.
Does it help?

I really like the deer that come to see me at the fence.
They’re fun to bark at.
I know you don’t like it when I scare them,
So I’m sorry I never stop.

I like it when we go on walks together,
Just you and me.
I like Mom and Dad, too,
But there’s something about a sister that is irresistible.

I’m starting to like sleeping in your bed the most.
It’s the closest to the ground,
So it’s the easiest for me to jump up in.
You don’t mind, right? I love you.

I really like to eat.
The food Dad makes is the best,
But I appreciate your attempts, too.
It’s getting harder for me to eat the crunchy food.

There’s something growing in my mouth.
I don’t like it.
Can you make it go away?
It hurts and itches.
Winter is my favorite season.
I love lying out in the snow,
And I love tearing open toys on that one special day
When you don’t care about me ripping up the paper.

You’re gone again.
I don’t like it when you leave for so long.
When are you coming home?
I miss you.

My tail is hurting now, too.
Mom keeps taking me to that scary place,
And she spills tears at night when she thinks I’m not listening.
Is there something wrong with her?

I can’t move as fast as I did before.
It hurts too much to run,
And the spots in my mouth and on my tail are growing bigger.
Why haven’t you made them go away yet?

It’s harder for me to get up now.
You’re still not home, and I still miss you.
Can you come back and make the pain go away?
Dad’s spilling tears now, too.

Mom’s taking me to that place again today.
Dad’s coming, as well.
They both have water in their eyes and on their faces.
Where are you? They need you.

I’m lying on a metal table now.
Mom and dad and some stranger are standing around me.
They’re still spilling water, and I’m scared.
Where are you? I need you.

The stranger holds a pointy thing in his hand.
It pierces my skin, and things start to go black.
I’m scared. Please don’t make me say goodbye.
I still haven’t seen you yet. Where are you?

I miss you.
I love you.
Please don’t make me say goodbye.

We're going through a hard time with my dog right now. I can't be with her because I'm away at school. My worst fear is that she'll be gone before I can come home to say goodbye.
