Thank You
We are young and dumb
but sometimes I feel too old
sometimes I can feel
every yesterday pressing
against the inside of my throat
sometimes I remember that
I cannot remember anymore
and
you are often like that for me.
I lose everything
I lose pencils and dollar bills
and I lost my cell phone (twice)
I lose video games to my brother
and I lose my mind to the
dull thrum of passing week days
I lose everything and I
am resigned to the fact
that lost things do not come back
but I lost you
and you are here
with me
again.
