One day I hope to be dancing on a stage
Instead of being locked up in a cage.

I cannot imagine sitting in an office
I was born to be a performer, that I promise.

Moving gracefully like a dove
Knowing someday I’ll be doing what I love.

Not letting gravity slow me down
Once I start I can’t be held to the ground.

Running out of breath I still dance side to side
But always making it look like I can glide.

What I do may appear to be strange to some
But when I move I’m questioned by none.

The stage can be just an empty old place
But with the right scenery, it has its own grace.

The curtains dance and spin with the slightest touch
And then our teachers yell they are moving too much.

Even though the road ahead of me might be rough
Who said dancers aren’t tough?
