Story
We all have a story
There’s a reason behind
Why she never stops caking the makeup across her face
A reason why he sits inhumanly still, eyes closed
Why a small smile etches itself across her face
As she stares at her phone
There’s a story behind the bright red lipstick,
Perhaps she just wants to be seen
A compilation of reasons why
He holds his hand clasped so tightly
So tightly the tendons etch a pattern across his skin
There’s a tale behind the bright-checkered jacket and trombone
Her eyes trained intently on the pages before her
Oblivious to the chaos around her
The way his body is crossed over itself
Completely closed off
We all carry ourselves with the weight of our past on our shoulders
The thoughts of the present in our brains
And the hopes of the future in our hearts
