Father Figure
Hey Dad, how are you?
It’s been awhile, can’t wait to see you.
It hurts sometimes knowing that the man that helped create me is not a part of my life.
Birthdays, holidays, any special occasions you was not there, like dude where were you?
A real man had to step in a take care of your responsibility
The one you was not man enough for.
He cares for me as if I was his own
He knows me like the back of his hand
He deserves the right to be called father, not you
You just the guy that helped create me.
You should feel sorry that another man has to take on your responsibilities.
Do you know my birthday?
Do you know that I’m a high school graduate?
Do you know what college I’m going to or
If I decided to go to college?
Do you know anything about me?
I feel sorry for other kids that has to go through the same things in life
It’s hard not to see my dad there for the special things that go on
It’s hard not to hear my dad say “I’m proud of you sweetie” whenever I have accomplished something.
But I’m glad I have a father figure in my life.
Someone that’s going to be there and not turn his back on me.
Ever heard the saying “I may love you but I don’t like you”
But how can I love
Something that wasn't even there?
I may sound harsh but this is coming from the heart!
