Trust Me
Yes, I’ve put walls up.
They keep me safe.
Yes, I’ve put walls up.
And they need to stay there.
Trust me.
Funny, that’s exactly what you want me to do.
You turn my words around,
The reflection created by my own mirror.
Because to you, my walls are glass,
Your goal the sound of shattering.
Only three words,
Three little words
But they are powerful enough.
And the scariest part is
I believe you.
And suddenly I have leapt
Onto the center of a mile-long tightrope.
But you’re at the other end,
With a big smile on your face,
“It’s O.K. Trust me.” you say.
And I realize that I’m shaking,
Struggling just to hold on.
Then you reach out your hand for mine,
So I let go once again.
But this time I am not falling.
I am safe,
On the ground,
With you.
