Compliments
Truly loved by all,
secretly lingering on everyone's wish list.
They bring out our inner beauty,
signs that others can see who we truly are.
They can turn even the worst day inside out.
Each time one is heard,
our heart fills a little more with love.
Why do we doubt them?
Why do we not always accept them?
Would you turn down a million dollars?
By doubting these compliments,
we doubt the truth .
We are only going against ourselves.
Why is it that we accept the insults?
They have no worth,
and accepting them makes us no richer in ourselves.
Compliments come in great value,
save them up and we add to our bank of self worth .
Don't let a worthless pebble outshine an exquisite diamond.
Believe in what others say,
and accept the words of kindness they have to offer.
One day we might find ourselves alone,
without these words,
with nothing to reflect upon in dark times.
