Some people
There are some people
Who have never cursed the stars
For making them feel smaller
Than they would like to believe
And there are some people
Who will never thank the ocean
Who never stopped trying to reach the moon
And hold onto its light
Though its always pushed away
And there are some people
Who have never created art
Or imagined a silver kingdom
Made for them alone to rule
And there are some people
Who have never seen themselves
Without a mirror in front of them
Who have never seen what's under all that skin
And there are some people
With the audacity to say their neighbor is lesser
When they have no idea if that person has cursed the stars
Or thanked the sea
Or made new worlds
Or seen inside
And no person is lesser
Who has ever felt the earth
Spin so fast they almost flew right off it
Or has loved the trees so fondly
That they kissed each branch they climbed
And counted each leaf
Or has thought they stood alone
But they stood anyway
Because they were attached to the earth
Roots entangled, standing tall
