Disappointment
The fear of failing
not yourself but the people who
hold your soul in their hands
the filter, the anchor
it’s not irrational
it’s the people who see
past the scars on my wrist,
past the trophies on the shelf,
into my broken heart
you’re the reason
I lie to my therapist
and smile at the critics
guilty for the difference between
who you are to me
and what I give back to you
but you hold me between
the end of my rope and
letting go
