Broken Love Song
Losing love is worse than never knowing love,
As ignorance is bliss, and love’s an ugly dove—
Elegant by appearance, tragic by the heart,
Tearing me to pieces,
Bit by bit, part by part.
The worst isn’t that you’re gone,
It’s that you’re never coming back,
If only I could bottle your scent that’s on me,
And keep it for eternity—
But no, that just won’t do,
For I lost a little piece of me when I lost you.
My tears taste salty—just like the ocean,
Maybe the sea’s a collecting place of bad emotion.
Maybe if I jump in, I could teach myself to swim,
And one day make it to a foreign shore,
And try to feel happiness again.
Maybe if I drown, the waves will hide my tears,
Maybe if I drown, I’ll forget what I don’t have—
For what I don’t have is you,
And my tears are drowning me slowly,
As slowly I sink, to the bottom of the ocean,
To a place where I can think.
A thinking place where I think of what was lost,
And I think that maybe it’s me,
For I’m a lost cause.
So to you I’ll say goodbye,
And hope you never see me cry,
Or shed a tear for the love that was so near,
Then ran away into yesterday,
And took what was dear.

When you're in a night that seems almost devoid of stars and you look but can't find someone to help you see. Look for that lonely star and let it guide you until you find the light. (anonymous)
