Standing in the Rain
I stand in the rain.
The drops, beating onto the ground
and into my mind
like little annoyances, things that kill everything in me.
I look up at the gray sky, then down at the ground.
A river of what I am inside.
I feel empty as I stand,
In the rain.
I want the sky to clear, to become blue again.
Don't cry, blue skies.
But how can I do that
when I'm surrounded by darkness?
Come sunlight, come another day.
But if it doesn't arrive soon,
the rain will still pour
and defeat me.
It will be here soon, I say.
Maybe the haven will help me.
Maybe the sun will shine bright.
Come save me. Come save me now.
