twinkletoes
the stars laugh at me
because I am alone
and because they cannot reach me
I’ve been
dancing
and it does not help at all
and everyone is chained together
who is not a light apart
and everyone falls
who is not chained
to someone else
but the circus boys
and their
nimble hands
and my painted face, I’m nothing but a clown
all the trapeze swingers
never let me go
there are no nets
in this tent
but the stars that laugh, they love a good show
so out from your fingers I slip
into the sky I go
yes I’ve been
dancing
