Interior Noire
The Child named No One
Watches from petal and leaf shadow
Mouth gleaming like
The pupil of a glass eye.
Hungrily in the hydrangeas
He watches the two swan
Stitched together at the mouth
Touching feathers and blooming wings
In the clarity of the swimming pool.
There is Murder, Guilt,
Detectives and Crime
On a screen in the open window
Where shadow-figures feed.
But here the glass birds
Live off each others’ eyes
And No One completes the food chain.
