The Gray Day
In the distance a light house stands
Tall and strong on eroded ground
Salty waves swell up and down
Lining the shore are stones smooth and round
Little sand crabs run and hide
Chalky gray streaks the sky
Clouds drift way up high
Above me seagulls screech and cry
Cold water laps at my toes
While I watch the tide come and go
Listening to the silence I’ve come to know
This is the humbleness I’ve learned to show
This is the place where I will stay
Until the day has waned away
When creatures of the night come out to play
I’ll leave and come back another day
