Who I Am
I was a midnight sky
Spacious and wide.
I was a mindless watch, tick
tick.
I swallowed a crown,
But I did not care,
I was a whimsical daisy
Spontaneous in the wild wind.
I am penetrating fusia;
A fluttering moth, ignorant to reason.
I am the rage of a lion’s courage
I am bold emerald,
Prominent for all to witness.
I am fresh seeping cement
With a foot print in my side;
I am a tsunami monster,
Uprooting the ancient stalks.
I wish to be an ocean tide,
Constant and smooth.
Sweeping the deepest depths,
Timeless yet swiftly
I will trace Africa’s boot
Where the crust begins
and the water evaporates,
And never doubt my strength
The strength to be who I am
When I want to be everything else.
