To Emma...My Biological Poem of Love and Devotion
You have eyes as blue as codominant snapdragons
And hair as golden as palominos
Though you wish your skin was roan
I like it without any epistasis
You remind me of a magnificent nucleotide
All bonded together
You are my polypeptide of love
I adore you as we are conjugated together in mastication at restaurants
I adore you as we bond in a way that is so much stronger than hydrogen
You are the nucleolus to my nucleus
The ribosome to my endoplasmic reticulum
And the metaphase line to my sister chromatids
You are the ethers to my gravidity
My homologous pair
We are as strong as an unsaturated fatty acid double bond
And as simple as hydrophilic reactions and spelling deoxyribonucleic acid
You make a chemical reaction
And my head spins around my double helix
Indeed we are so perfect that I must admit
I have thought before that we have the same atomic number
But alas
It is probably just the same
Atomic mass.
