Lonely
late at night
tossing and turning
intense longing
to not be alone
minutes
just ticking away
the flashing blue glow
on the clock
blissfully unaware
seconds fade into hours
kissing the early morning hello
a throbbing heartache
desire to be loved
early morning
blinds closed
against the still world outside
wrapped tight in blankets
hiding from monsters
chasing in bad dreams
an exhausted yawn
the whirring of the fan
the silence in between laughs
increasingly loud
middle of the night
trapped in the dark
scared and all alone
light from a flashlight
paranoia escalates
shine the light over the room
an artificial sun
check for monsters
find none
except the ones in my head
lonely in a crowded house
my bed feels like a tomb
late at night
alone in my room
morning I'm begging you,
please come soon
