Once upon a time I knew a spirit so free
She led a life normal as can be
With imperfections, happiness, and grief
Her life was as simple as you and me
She lit up the room with her smile
And heads would turn at her laughter
She was loved as everyone should be
But she made her mistakes too
As addiction took over her simple life
She gained strength and lost it over the years
Which is why I am sorry to say
This once upon a time
Has no happily ever after
As she floated up into the heavens
And now dances in the skies
We still shed a tear
Over the free spirit we once knew
