About to Get Burned
You know this is crazy,
What’s happening as we speak,
I keep playing with fire,
And continually grow burned and weak.
My wrist is too red and tender,
To be a part of my body,
Take it and hail it at the dogs,
Or I’ll just keep forcing it to bleed.
I can’t see darling, can’t see,
Through all of this blood and smoke,
The flames keep heating me up,
And the air keeps making me choke.
Spill my blood and write me a promise,
That you’ll always take me for me,
Maybe my lips will quit being burned,
Long enough for me to speak.
Although I’m about to get burned,
I’ll take the fire in my hands,
And swear to the world that I love you,
Across the sea and lands.
