Little kids are less afraid
I stare out the cold glass windows.
I see what I should see on a typical February day.
Old dirty snow being shoveled,
and promising grins hoping for spring to come.
That’s when I see a petite little girl building a snowman with just a little jacket and some snow boots.
Using all her little muscles she rolled and patted and did everything she could to make that snowman perfect
It of course fell down every now and then, just like everything does but that sure didn’t stop her.
She was out there for hours making sure that snowman was perfect.
I wondered “didn’t she know it was going to be destroyed evantually anyways”
Finally the little girl returned home with a satisfied grin on her face.
The next day, my predictions turned out true, the snowman was not there anymore, all that was left was a half eaten carrot.
As the little girl walked outside expecting to see her perfect snowman, she was very upset.
A tear slipped down that strong girls face.
all that hard work put to something that just ended up being destroyed.
Empathy washed through me. Though the emotion she felt was very familiar to me.
She wiped the frozen tear, and ran back inside.
Came out within seconds in a jacket and snow boots,
and was ready to make another snow man.
I envy that little girl.
