Gunshots
A gunshot
That ended life
As you knew it
Scattering pieces
All around
As you scramble
To pick them up
You give in to your fears
Your anger
Your hate
He was taken
From you
Everything you ever
Knew was lost
You were abandoned
By everyone else
Or so you felt
Tried to live a life
That would make him proud
You had no one
Who you could trust
Except family
Miles and miles
Away from you
You sobbed
A daily routine
For you
Nightmares that
Kept you wide awake
Despite exhaustion
You thought you were
Unloved, no matter
What I said
You fled from everyone
You tried so hard
Not to change
To fit in, but
You were beautiful
It felt so right
To be popular
You knew it was fake
Those gunshots
Were the only
Things real anymore
In your life
I knew you were hurting inside
You pushed forward
You cut to relieve pain
You stopped
A small miracle
A child, minus
The childhood
Cause gunshots
Took that away
