Charlie's Day
In a month governed by clouds and cold
The sun finds a day when it’s feeling bold
But tragic news of tiny life lost
Seems to bring back the winter frost
Their little hands and little feet
Their pulses and their heart beats
Brought joy to us five months ago
And they were a gifts among the snow
One was healthy and got to leave
Take the ID tag from his sleeve
But his brother was still sick
And his clock started to tick
Seconds became minutes; minutes became hours
Hours became days; branches became flowers
Just when we thought the spring had come
A new winter wind had started to hum
Then what’s this? A burst of sun!
But like honey poisoned, his life is done
Charlie had to go his way
May 16th is Charlie’s day
