The Candle
With age we wither
Our faces crease and fold
With time’s emotion
Then we fade like a candle
When we were first lit
Our fire crackled and erupted
We burned brightly and without concern
We then calmed
Realizing how important it was
To conserve our flame
Our beauty
As we lit other flames
We became whole
A great flame emerged
This flame rose from our flame and another’s
Completed by another
This flame was lost and we were left half lit
The oil remained
We struggled to be seen
Fading in the distance
Behind new, brighter, more beautiful flames
Although, we flickered as we died
And everyone saw
Everyone saw how beautiful it was
