One short day with you
It’s the hammer on the mountaintop
That pounds my heart away with shock
The bitter remains cascade around the lies,
And all the things I cannot change.
When I look back,
I remember our own revolution,
Screaming in our lost illusion,
Fighting for our songs,
We had been together way too long.
I lived for a day,
Nothing short of expectations,
Spun cobwebs out of revelations,
Fed birds with free-lanced connotations,
Singing for that day,
I was free, and I was young.
We were busy being everything we’re not,
‘Cause growing up seems much too easy,
When you’re unafraid.
