What Can Never Be
I always write these poems about you
But they can never compare
To what you write about her
I love to read your work but
It breaks my heart to see
How much passion
With which you love her
And you tell me you like mine but
You don’t know they’re about you
If you knew,
Would you still talk to me?
Or would it be too awkward to stand?
How would I even begin to tell you
That you are the object of my heart’s desire?
Could we still be friends?
I doubt it
Considering how much you love her
This unknown girl you write about
So I guess I’ll keep my feelings to myself
Keep our friendship strong
And only dream about
What can never be
