Center Stage
The antique microphone
Was placed
Center stage
She walked out
Slow strides
All that you could hear
Was a quiet applause
And the echo of her high heeled shoes
Her crimson red dress
Was slit up to her thigh
It dragged slightly on the wood floor
She stood there
Center stage
Under the hot spot light
A bead of sweat
Trickled down her spine
Then
Her heart sank
When she glanced out into the audience
And saw
That the seat she had reserved
Was empty
