Birdcage
We danced, we felt the
cage between us crumble
like the wall in all our memories
We find it waiting in the trees
hanging from a rope necklace
just singing
"I will never grow up"
And who will stop us
from the suger laced with poison
Couldn't keep us from the race
barefoot with purpose
and pink sunses
Chasing music and ourselves
for another taste of frozen, still
I try to tell you
we could fly away
you smile
keep on dancing
through the burial
I want, I want, but
Do I, do I
you are years away in my
heart and head
So much to learn,
you love her
So chase her
And I will stay here
stray here dreaming
But for once
I wish I won't wake up
