Better Spent Than Wasted
I have a theory
One I coaxed from the
sickly sweet parts of
my pessimistic mind
That the crappier
A day is the more likely
The next day is to
Amaze.
Like, have you ever lost your binder or something?
And spent all night combing the house for it because
You had a super extra important piece of work in it?
And then the next day someone returned it to you.
And that someone turned out to be super mega hottie
Of the year, and he seems to be totally in love with you
Because maybe his favorite color is orange and the binder
Was orange too? Okay, so maybe something a little less
EXTREME happened, but you know what I mean. Right?
Could be the meds talking
But only crazy people hear
Unknown voices in their heads.
Right?
I don’t take pills ‘cause I’m mad-
That hit my sister, not me.
I take ‘em so I don’t get
Pregnant.
I’m a teenager (sadly)
We do stupid things, right? (often)
My boyfriend is an a-hole (sadly)
I despise him sincerely (often)
But I’m a teenager (sadly).
And I do things I’m not
Proud of, things that my
Mother would send me
To the closet for, a Bible
In hand and a thousand
Ave Marias on the tip
Of my swollen tongue.
But, hey. Getting my thrills
While I’m still hot enough
To get them. That’s another
Theory of mine. A little less
Philosophical than the first
One, most people would say
But philosophy can bite my
A**. Reality wins big time.
(Why make these promises
You never bother to keep?
The words are falling out of your mouth
Like an overturned bucket of sand.
When I asked you to stay,
Your only task was not to leave.
Now for your mortal soul
I frequently lose sleep.)
